Guess my age, she said — the reactions were unbelievable

Sometimes, the internet can humble you fast. That’s why asking strangers questions online isn’t always a good idea if you’re not ready for honest answers. When you post something, people often feel free to say whatever they want in the comments.

One woman decided to ask a simple question online: “How old do I look?” It was an innocent question, something many of us have probably wondered about ourselves. But what started as harmless curiosity quickly turned into a tough lesson for her — and for anyone watching online.

A woman shared a video on TikTok and asked viewers a simple question: “How old do you think I am?” But nothing could have prepared her for the answers she got, which she described as “wild.”

Emily Jane filmed herself without makeup or social media filters and asked people to guess her age. To her surprise, some guessed she was in her forties, others said fifties — and a few even thought she was in her sixties!

One person commented, “I’m 56, and I’d guess you’re around 47.”

Another wrote, “I’m 42. I think you might be about 51.”

Someone else said, “A very attractive 42 — and I’m 29.”

But the comment that shocked Emily the most was from someone who guessed she was 58 years old.

In a follow-up video, she asked, “Do I really look like I’m nearly 60? Like I’m close to retirement age? Do I honestly look that old?”

Of course, not all the guesses were high. Many people thought she was in her thirties, and a few even guessed she was still in her twenties. The answers were all over the place.

Emily was surprised by how many people guessed she was much older and finally decided to reveal her real age.

“I turned 36 last week — so I’ve only just turned 36,” she shared.

She explained that she understands why people might think she looks older. It’s because she stopped dyeing her naturally grey hair.

“I’ve had grey hair for a while now. It’s natural. I started going grey at 19, and people think because I have grey hair, I must be over 50,” Emily said in her video.

Even though she expected a few people to guess higher because of her hair, she was still shocked by some of the answers.

She also explained that in the original video, her eye bags were from sleepless nights with her newborn baby. Emily added that she wasn’t wearing any makeup or using filters, which might have made a difference — but to her, she thought she looked completely normal.

“I’ve never had any work done. This is my face, this is how I look, and I believe this is what most people my age would look like without filters,” she said.

In her video, Emily shared her thoughts on why people guessed she was older. She believed it had less to do with her appearance and more to do with how social media has changed the way people see women.

She explained that many people today aren’t used to seeing natural faces because social media often highlights cosmetic procedures and filters that change how people look.

“I think it’s important to remember that what you see on social media, on TV, and in magazines — it isn’t real. People have been saying this for years,” she added.

Emily then asked her viewers, “Do you think we’ve developed a warped view of age because of what we constantly see online?”

However, not everyone agreed with her. Some people commented that it wasn’t about social media — they believed it was simply her grey hair that made her look older.

“36 going on 60. It’s probably the hair that makes you look older, but you’re still very beautiful,” one person commented.

Another viewer shared, “I think you look your age. People just believe that grey hair only comes with old age, and they can’t see past that.”

“It’s just the hair that makes you look older. Your skin looks amazing,” someone else pointed out.

And another added, “I think people get thrown off when a younger person is confident enough to embrace their natural grey hair.”

Guessing someone’s age isn’t as easy as it seems! Emily Jane’s story proves it. Whatever people might think, Emily Jane is proud of who she is and how she looks.  At the end of the day, Emily Jane is confident in her own skin — and that’s what matters most.
