Tragically, there exist individuals who possess no business owning or being in the vicinity of animals. This unfortunate reality became apparent to Hayden Howard some time ago when she observed an unsettling change in her dog’s condition.
Jackson, her beloved English Mastiff, had been frolicking in the backyard while she remained indoors. Upon calling him inside, she noticed what appeared to be numerous insect bites covering his body. However, upon closer inspection, she soon discovered a much more distressing truth.
To Hayden’s disbelief, it turned out that Jackson’s body was riddled with bullet holes. The shocking revelation left her utterly stunned, unsure of how to process such a distressing sight. Determined to seek immediate help for her wounded companion, she swiftly transported Jackson to the veterinary clinic. During the examination, the vet made a horrifying discovery: numerous minuscule bullets, fired from a BB gun, had penetrated Jackson’s body. Hayden recounts the grim findings, recalling that the pellets were lodged beneath his eyelid, inside his ear, and even in his knee—no part of him had been spared from this senseless act of cruelty.
Due to the staggering number of bullets embedded in Jackson’s body, the veterinarian had no choice but to shave nearly all of his fur to access the plastic shells. Out of the 27 bullets discovered, the vet managed to extract only 7, leaving a distressing 20 projectiles still lodged within him. As if this wasn’t appalling enough, the examination revealed an additional 20 bullet holes scattered across Jackson’s small frame. A horrifying realization struck everyone involved.
Jackson had been subjected to over 70 separate shootings. Assistant Chief Craig Hayes of the Seymour Police Department expressed his shock, stating that such a level of animal cruelty was unprecedented in his experience. The fact that Jackson had never posed any harm to others made the incident even more unfathomable. Authorities swiftly focused their attention on a nearby yard as the likely source of the shots, initiating a determined pursuit of the suspect responsible for this heinous act.
The authorities wasted no time in locating the source of the bullets, as they swiftly discovered a hidden stash of ammunition and a firearm within a neighboring residence. Shockingly, during their search, the police also stumbled upon methamphetamine and drug-related paraphernalia, providing further evidence of illicit activities. As reported by the Daily Mail, the presence of these additional illegal substances heightened the seriousness of the case.
It is my sincerest hope that the individual responsible for these abhorrent acts faces a significant prison sentence and truly pays the price for their heinous crime. Furthermore, I firmly believe that upon their release, they should be permanently barred from any future interaction with animals. Despite the immense trauma he endured, Jackson is thankfully on the path to recovery, as reported by Hayden.
While certain news outlets may occasionally label BB and pellet guns as “toys” or “fake,” it is crucial to recognize that these are indeed genuine firearms capable of inflicting actual harm.
