Just over a year ago, Jafria and Michael Thoeming joyously welcomed their precious daughter, Cyra Rose Thoeming, into the world. Sadly, their happiness has turned into unimaginable sorrow as they now face the painful task of laying their beloved baby to rest, a child they lovingly referred to as their “light.”
On the fateful day of July 6, while Jafria was maneuvering her vehicle in a tight spot, she inadvertently struck little Cyra, who was securely fastened in her car seat and placed on the ground nearby. Despite immediate medical attention, Cyra tragically passed away in the hospital, leaving her devastated family and the community in grief.
According to a statement from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), the incident took place as follows: The vehicle had been parked in a gravel area adjacent to the residence. In an attempt to navigate the vehicle out of a tight spot, the mother had carefully positioned the child, still in the car seat, in what she believed to be a secure location. Tragically, while readjusting the vehicle, the front tire accidentally caught the canopy of the car seat, causing it to fall backward and resulting in the infant sustaining critical injuries.
Despite immediate and determined life-saving efforts, Cyra’s injuries proved to be insurmountable, and she was pronounced dead at the Verde Valley Medical Center. The loss of this precious life is a devastating blow to her grieving family and the community as a whole
Jafria lovingly describes her precious daughter as a joyful and smiling little girl. She explains that the name “Cyra” holds a significant meaning, symbolizing light in multiple languages.
In a heartfelt message shared on the GoFundMe page created to help cover funeral expenses, Jafria expresses the immense love she had for Cyra Rose, who brought an indescribable brightness to her life. Jafria emphasizes how cherished and long-awaited Cyra was, completing a deep longing that had persisted for many years. The GoFundMe campaign, surpassing its target, successfully raised over $18,000 before being disabled by the organizer.
On May 25, 2022, Jafria took to Facebook to introduce little Cyra to her family and friends. She shared a touching photo showcasing the peaceful sight of Cyra sleeping on her back, accompanied by a framed image holding a pregnancy test with the words, “Cyra Rose Thoeming. Earthside May 16, 22.” It was a moment of immense joy and anticipation for the arrival of Cyra into their lives.
Cyra, described as a social and vibrant little girl, brought joy to everyone with her smiles and friendly waves. Her mother, Jafria, cherished their time together and marveled at Cyra’s intelligence and kindness. Tragically, Cyra’s life was cut short, leaving a permanent void. The investigation into the circumstances is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.
Our hearts go out to Cyra’s family during this devastating time. We send our love, thoughts, and best wishes as they navigate the healing process.
