Teacher’s “Private Parts” Song for First Graders Goes Viral And Parents Can’t Stop Praising It

A first-grade teacher in Namibia has gone viral for a lesson that turned a sensitive subject into a powerful teaching moment.

Gelda Waterboer, who teaches at Rogate Primary School, posted a TikTok of herself leading her class in a lively song about “private parts.” The lyrics made it clear which parts of the body are off-limits, and encouraged kids to speak up if someone crosses that boundary.

The video struck a chord worldwide, racking up nearly 100 million views in just a week. Parents and educators praised her straightforward approach, saying it gave children the language and confidence to protect themselves. “Not all parents have these conversations,” one commenter noted. “This is exactly what kids need.”

While some critics argued the topic is too mature for first graders, Waterboer pushed back, insisting children need to learn early. “It is our responsibility as adults, parents, and educators to create a safe space where children feel confident to speak up,” she said.

The upbeat tune has proven so catchy that even adults online admitted they found themselves humming it at home. For many, though, its true impact lies in giving children a simple but vital tool: the right to say no and the courage to tell someone if their boundaries are crossed.

What do you think? Should songs like this be taught in every classroom?
